New details regarding the suspicious death of Dr. Habibollah Salarzehi, Head of the Sistan and Baluchestan Science and Technology Park in Zahedan
According to Haal Vash, today—Saturday, September 19, 2026—Dr. Habibollah Salarzehi, a university professor and the head of the Sistan and Baluchestan Science and Technology Park, passed away at his workplace in Zahedan. While some state-affiliated channels attributed the death to a “heart attack,” his relatives have strongly rejected this account and are demanding a thorough investigation into the cause and circumstances of his death.
Sources told Haal Vash that Dr. Salarzehi arrived at the Science and Technology Park complex in Zahedan around 8:00 AM for a site visit and spent some time walking alone within the grounds. After a while, he was nowhere to be found; a Baluch security guard at the complex eventually discovered his body hanging by a rope from a concrete pillar under construction and notified emergency services and the police.
Sources added that the rope was still around his neck, and relatives who arrived at the scene observed ligature marks on his neck. Given these details, the family has questioned the “heart condition” narrative and is calling for an independent, meticulous investigation into the cause and manner of his death.
Dr. Salarzehi was a member of the strategic council of the Makki Mosque in Zahedan and a prominent Baluch figure in the academic and scientific community. In recent years, he had served as an advisor to candidates supported by the Makki Mosque and segments of Zahedan’s Baluch population during elections, and his views were frequently sought on social and political issues.
Meanwhile, some of his associates have raised the possibility of involvement by security agencies in his death. However, the definitive cause of Dr. Salarzehi’s death, the circumstances surrounding it, and the identity or motive of the suspected perpetrators have not yet been determined; Halvash is currently pursuing further details regarding the cause and manner of this Baluch citizen’s death.
